Industry transition – consultation with minibus-taxi operators

The City is in the process of rolling out of Phase 1A of the MyCiTi IRT service to the City’s West Coast via the R 27 to Atlantis and via Blaauwberg and Potsdams Roads to Du Noon and Montague Gardens, and to the Inner City (including the route from the Inner City to Hout Bay).

From 2008 the City of Cape Town has engaged with representatives of minibus-taxi associations and scheduled bus services that are directly affected or partially affected by the implementation of Phase 1A of the MyCiTi project. The City has also done a number of general briefings to the minibus-taxi industry. This forms part of the process towards the rationalisation of public transport in the city, as provided for in the National Land Transport Act, and the City’s Integrated Transport Plan.
