Events and permits

The City’s Events Permit Office facilitates and co‐ordinates the application and approval/rejection process for the staging of events in public areas such as beaches and parks.

The Events Permit Office issues permits for event applications once it has considered all aspects of the event being applied for with the relevant City departments, including Strategic Events, Events Operational Co‐ordination Committees and/or City service departments. Each event application is considered on its own merits according to the City’s strategic objectives, legal and operational requirements.

How to apply for staging an event in a public area

To stage an event in a public area, either fax, e-mail or hand deliver an event application form together with detailed event plan and route/layout plan to the Events Permit Office a minimum of three weeks in advance. See the Events Application Process for more information.
