The Economic Information and Research (EI&R) Branch undertakes or facilitates economic development research to support the City’s economic and human development initiatives. The branch also guides and supports the monitoring and evaluation of the department's initiatives and programmes including job creation monitoring. It produces EHD information products to support EHD programmes and projects (including our website) and essential knowledge management support and resources and other relevant user focused information. The EI&R Branch is responsible for the development and production of the department’s information products (including final policy documents, publications, leaflets etc.)The branch provides economic development data and information (incl. GGP, employment, labour force) to various City and directorate/department policy and strategic interventions. In an operational role, it supports and provides information to all the other teams within EHD which support local area economic emerging businesses and communities.City PPP Internship Programme
EHD and the EI&R Branch have hosted an Economics Public Policy Programme (EPPP) intern on an annual basis since 2005. The aim of the programme is to support and improve the quality of public sector policy professionals. The objective of the internship is to give graduates a year's worth of work experience between their Honours and Masters academic years. The programme is practically oriented and exposes interns to the local government context and involves their input in a variety of decision making systems. It also provides space for the intern to focus on a particular field of interest relating to further postgraduate work.
