Two City of Cape Town publications have gained top honours in a prestigious national competition for corporate publications, for the second year running.
The Council's staff newsletter,'Contact', shared the overall grand prize as the best South African corporate publication for 2008 with Sanlam's 'Sandaba' staff newspaper. 'Contact' was also adjudged best newspaper, again in a shared award with 'Sandaba'.
'Contact' beat some of the best-known private sector companies in this annual competition which attracted over 130 entries. The competition is the benchmark for corporate publications in South Africa, and the City of Cape Town was the only local government entrant.
'Contact' received awards for excellence in writing, design and communication. 'City News', the newsletter for residents, was commended for excellence in communication, design & photography.
The results were announced at a function in Midrand today (28 August 2008). The trophies and awards were received by Contact Editor, Aletta Kruger, and City News editor Martin Pollack.
