The City of Cape Town earned a number of accolades at this year’s Corporate Publication Competition held in Midrand. The competition is organized by the SA Publication Forum.
The City of Cape Town’s staff newspaper, Contact, has been voted South Africa’s best corporate newspaper for the fourth year running, while the City’s newsletter for its residents, City News, was voted second best.
The City’s website, which entered for the first time this year, was placed third in the Best Corporate Website category.
This year the national competition attracted about 130 entries from a wide range of corporate organisations and industries including the airlines, automotive industry, academic institutions, and banking, health, mining, and insurance sectors.
Contact was also placed fourth in the overall ‘Best Corporate Publication’ category. The Shuttleworth Foundation’s Hip2B² won this category, while Santam’s essence took second place and Anglo American’s A Magazine, third.
The award for best one-off publication went to Cape Town’s 2010 Host City Communication, and the City’s 2009/10 annual report was placed third in the Best Annual Report category.
Certificates for excellence in writing, communication and design were also awarded to Contact, City News, the City of Cape Town’s 2010 Host City Communication, its Annual Report and its Five-Year-Plan.
