The Accounting Division manages and maintains the City's fully integrated system and ensures compliance with effective GRAP (General Recognised Accounting Practice) standards. The division furthermore co-ordinates VAT administration, audit reports and the accounting aspects of grants and donations. It also compiles financial statements with management reports and financial statistical returns.Since the successful implementation of the new accounting standards to ensure fair presentation and compliance with National Treasury guidelines, the City of Cape Town has had seven consecutive unqualified audit reports since the 2003/2004 financial year.The Asset Management Division formulates and develops policies and strategies for effective asset management, and ensures that the City’s assets are recorded in the fixed asset register.
