Coaching for Hope

The goal of the Coaching for Hope programme is to empower girls and women and promote gender equality through football.

Coaching for Hope manages a project in the communities called “Empowerment of Women and Girls Through Football”.

The aim of the project is to train women coaches in Mitchells Plain, Langa, Ocean View/Masiphumelele, Gugulethu, Bishop Lavis and Lwandle to facilitate football programmes for women and girls at 5-a-side artificial pitches.

Coaching for Hope uses football as a development tool for women and girls by involving them in regular activities and teaching them leadership and life-skills.

Skillshare International is an international volunteer and development organisation, registered as a Section 21 company in South Africa and supported by the English Football Association. Coaching for Hope is part of Skillshare International’s ‘Sport for Social Change’ programme, which aims to create better futures for young people who make positive decisions in their lives, avoid negative and risk behaviour and give back to their communities and families.
