Clifton 4th is one of South Africa's most popular beaches. Like Camps Bay Beach it attracts a glamorous crowd of local and international visitors. It is one of a series of small coves, and is on the Atlantic Ocean side of Cape Town near Camps Bay. It is a popular protected beach when the southerly winds blow during summer. The water at Clifton 4th is always icy-cold!
Various environmental programmes, including interpretive signage and lifesaving training take place on the beach.
Lifeguards are on duty during the Blue Flag season (December to end March). Parking is limited so be prepared to walk from the parking sites located on Victoria Road. There is unfortunately no access to the beach for the physically disabled as its entrance is down steep, winding and narrow stairs.
