Law Enforcement

What is the role of the green scorpions in waste minimisation and recycling within urban areas?

Green scorpions should first and foremost prosecute illegal landfills, which aren’t run responsibly, and also people who “accept” waste onto their premises for money and then stockpile or dump it in their yards without recycling it.

How does government enforce legislation in waste management?

City of Cape Town Solid Waste Department has its own law enforcement team of approximately 20 persons. In addition, any waste related Bylaw is enforced by the City Police.
