Emergency loadshedding 

What is emergency loadshedding?

Emergency loadshedding is a controlled means of managing available electricity distribution capacity when an unscheduled power shortage occurs.

Loadshedding schedule for
1 August - 31 August 2008

The following loadshedding schedule will apply only when required.  Click here to view it in a PDF format or here should you prefer it in MS Excel. Alternatively, you can choose to see it in a map format. Simply click on the area in which you live: NORTH, SOUTH or EAST. Detailed maps are available for the following areas:

Important notice

Eskom recently announced that the pre-emptive load shedding has been suspended until further notice. (Please note that the previous pre-emptive loadshedding schedule for May has now become the emergency loadshedding schedule for May-July)

The City of Cape Town and Eskom see loadshedding as a last resort and request all customers to support the energy reduction initiative.
