The City's Notification policy for land use development applications has been updated and is available for public information.
The revised policy, which determines the method by and extent to which notification of development proposals is undertaken to neighbouring property owners, makes provision for wider consultation on planning applications and provides more innovative options in which to do it. As such, it reflects Council's constitutional obligation to ensure proper public participation in its affairs.
In terms of planning law, Council has to notify potentially interested and affected neighbours, land owners and other parties when it receives development applications. This is so that they can comment on them before a decision is taken.
The updated policy was adopted by the City Manager at the end of last month and has replaced a previous policy in this regard. The revised policy can be viewed by clicking

City's local district planning offices.
