The City of Cape Town invites you to a conference to celebrate World Town Planning Day. The conference will take place from 10 to 11 November at the Cape Town Civic Centre, in the heart of the CBD. It will be preceded by a planning exhibition which will take place from 9 to 11 November.
Under the 2011 conference theme, Liveable Cities: Urbanising World. Meeting the Challenge, the conference features inter alia, our partners’ presentations on the planning application processes they follow to implement their development projects. Other conference presenters will then explore the appropriate responses and solutions that planners can build into their recommendations for urban areas at different scales and in different circumstances. The 2011 conference will focus more on the local challenges and finding local solutions in the processing and assessment of development applications including a debate on the future role and relevance of the planners in the development industry.
Planners working in the government and private sectors and specifically the younger planners and even students will hugely benefit from some hard-hitting debates on the various items to be presented. A lead presenter/s will introduce the item and will be supplemented by a panel of experts where after items will be open for debate.
The 2011 conference is our contribution to creating a better world for future generations. It builds on the initiatives started in the 2007 and 2009 conferences and as such demonstrates the power of collaboration.
It provides the ideal platform for delegates to network with industry professionals and government officials, listen to local experts speakers and participate in planning discussions.
