Disruption of water supply in Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek on Tuesday

The Water and Sanitation Department has scheduled necessary maintenance work in Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek for Tuesday, 31 May.

Simon’s Town water disruption to last for a day

The water supply disruption in Simon’s Town is necessary to install a pressure reduction valve on the water supply line in Main Road. The work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Department’s pressure management strategy. This valve will ensure that the water pressure in the pipeline is regulated for optimal water supply by eliminating unnecessary pressure in the pipeline.

Residents in Bayview Heights, Blue Waters and Simon’s Town Main Road will be without water from 08:00 until 16:00.

Residents are advised to store sufficient water in clean sealed containers for domestic consumption to minimise the inconvenience.

A water tanker will be located close to the Blue Waters turnoff on Simon’s Town Main Road should residents require more water for domestic consumption.

Residents are also requested to ensure that their taps are closed whilst the work is in progress to eliminate the possibility of any water loss or damage when the water supply is restored and nobody is at home.

Fish Hoek water disruption on Tuesday night

Similar work will be undertaken in Fish Hoek on Tuesday night. Additional control valves will be installed to enable the department to better control the water supply when work is being done on the water supply lines.

This will result in the disruption of the water supply to residents in the area from 22:00 until Wednesday morning at 02:00.

Residents in the following roads will be without water during this period: Lower Kildare Road, Kinrae Road, Orlando Road, Ivanhoe Road and 11 th, 12 th and 13th Avenues (in the vicinity of the Pick ‘n Pay and Spar shopping centres).

Residents are requested to store sufficient water in clean sealed containers for domestic consumption to minimise the inconvenience.

A water tanker will be located at the Spar shopping centre should residents require any water for domestic consumption.

The City apologises for the inconvenience. It is imperative that we maintain our water supply infrastructure to ensure the continued supply of quality drinking water to residents.
