City warns of further Potsdam/Blaauwberg Road lane closures

Additional roadworks will take place at the Blaauwberg/Potsdam Roads intersection this weekend, following the work completed from 13 – 15 April 2013.

The roadworks will begin at 14:00 on Saturday, 20 April and end at 05:00 on Monday, 22 April 2013. During this time, right turns will not be possible from Blaauwberg Road into Koeberg Road and from Potsdam Road into Blaauwberg Road.

One lane will be open to traffic from Potsdam Road to Koeberg Road, and traffic will be able to turn left from Koeberg Road into Blaauwberg Road. Eastbound traffic on Blaauwberg Road will be diverted via Potsdam Road and the N7, as there will be no access to Koeberg Road from this intersection.

From 18:00, one lane will be closed on Blaauwberg Road, west-bound, to allow for a water pipeline to be installed. Alternative routes will be marked along the N7, R27 and Plattekloof Road, and motorists in the area will be notified of the work via pamphlets before  construction begins.

Buses and mini-bus taxis travelling along Koeberg Road, to and from the intersection, will be routed via one carriageway at a time.

To try to minimise disruption, construction is being undertaken on weekends, on a 24-hour basis, and roadways will open to traffic before the Monday morning peak traffic period commences.

The City apologises for the inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience.
