Tomorrow, Friday 9 July will again be a ‘Free Friday’ on Cape Town’s MyCiTi IRT bus service, following on the success of the first two Free Fridays on 25 June and 2 July.
On both occasions, the City of Cape Town offered free rides on the MyCiTi inner-city bus loop to all Capetonians and visitors. Thousands of free rides were registered.
All rides on the inner-city loop route will be free, starting at 00:00 on Friday morning and ending at midnight.
The MyCiTi inner-city service has been specifically provided for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ period and the City wants residents to experience the service as it offers a taste of the public transport system envisaged for Cape Town. Rides on the inner-city loop usually cost R8.00 per trip.
A permanent shuttle service between the Civic Centre and Cape Town International Airport is also in operation, at R50.00 a ride.
