It is Responsible Tourism Week and the City of Cape Town is hosting a series of dialogue sessions involving the community, tourism industry experts, and various educational institutions to mark the occasion.
Until 16 February 2014, participants in Responsible Tourism Week explore and brainstorm the practical application of sustainable tourism ideas, such as cost-effective ways of reducing electricity use, buying locally made and fair-trade products for interiors and guest amenities, and supporting community development and conservation projects.
On Thursday, 13 February 2014, the City will host a key dialogue session with representatives from Cape Town’s ‘Big 6’ tourist attractions: the V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (SANBI), Groot Constantia, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Co. (Pty.) Ltd, Robben Island Museum, and the Cape Point Partnership.
