The City of Cape Town is a proud sponsor of the Gun Run – an important event on Cape Town’s running calendar. The event takes place on Sunday 14 October 2012 and Capetonians are encouraged to support the race by entering before Friday 28 September 2012, when entries close. Only entries for the 5 km run/walk will be taken at registration and on race day.
“The City is delighted to host one of the most popular marathons on the athletics calendar. The new route starting outside the Cape Town Stadium and finishing on the Sea Point Promenade leaves plenty of space for athletes and spectators and the location allows for a great vibe for all runners and spectators to enjoy. It also provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the beauty of our city,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, Councillor Grant Pascoe.
Entry forms are available from any Sportsman’s Warehouse, where entries will also be taken in store. Entry forms and up-to-date event information can be found at www.thegunrun.co.za or by contacting Top Events on 021 511 7130 or email@example.com. Online entries are also open at www.topevents.co.za.
The RaceTec timing chips – used at the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour – are now a compulsory accessory for those running the half marathon. Runners who already have one of these chips can use it for the race, while those who do not have chips will need to purchase one at a cost of R100.00.
