Are you saving water?

Your help is needed to help save water in Cape Town, which is experiencing erratic rainfall patterns that are having a huge impact on our ability to supply adequate water supply.

Apart from the fact that our city is a water scarce once, the experts cannot yet predict whether our dams are going to receive a good run-off this winter.

Gardening and domestic use still accounts for the largest percentage of daily water usage, and we all have a legal obligation and responsibility to save it, in terms of the City’s Water By-Laws.

Here are some ways how you can save water:

  • Restrict your watering to before 10:00 or after 16:00
  • Regularly check and repair leaks
  • Do not hose down hard or paved surfaces
  • Fit an automatic self-closing device to your hosepipe
  • Fit water-saving devices where possible
  • Keep taps closed when not in use
  • Always use water efficiently

More information on how to save water is available here.

Making saving water a way of life - we must save it whilst we still have it.
