Metro Police nab 15 suspects in drug raids over the weekend

Metro Police officers arrested 15 suspects for possession of narcotics in Macassar, Hanover Park and Simon’s Town this weekend. In addition, a total of 503 traffic fines were issued.

Search warrants were executed in Macassar during an integrated operation with the South African Police Services, yielding five arrests for possession of narcotics. Another two suspects were arrested in Hanover Park for the same offence.

At a roadblock in Simon’s Town, Metro Police officers arrested four suspects for possession of dagga. Three suspects were arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, which had been reported earlier at the Manenberg Police Station.

In the City Bowl, one motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The following items were confiscated during the raids:

98 stoppe dagga
38 TIK lollies
241 TIK straws
20 x Mandrax tablets
11 grams of TIK
1 scale
R5 750 in cash

“Metro Police will not tolerate unsafe driving habits or illegal drug use, and we will continue our clamp-down operations to ensure the safety of others,” said Metro Police Deputy Chief, Yolanda Faro.
