“The aim of this project is to create an attractive environment that tenants can identify with proudly. A house is more than just shelter against the elements, and by creating an attractive environment we hope to contribute to a greater sense of community and well-being for all residents,” said Mayoral Committee Member for Housing, Councillor Shehaam Sims.
Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato, explained that: “The scope of this major housing rental refurbishment project includes not only a comprehensive review and upgrade of Council’s rental units, but also an enhancement of the living space surrounding the rental stock through various interventions such as provision of fencing, hard surfacing, and parking areas and the planting of trees. This is an important part of the City’s plan to provide quality living environments for our residents and we are very excited to now launch this important project in Scottsdene”. The rental unit upgrade project was first launched in Kewtown in January 2010.
