City law enforcement officers complete Card Skimming and Counterfeit Currency Detection Course

City of Cape Town Law Enforcement, Metro Police and Traffic officers will receive certificates after the completion of a Card Skimming and Counterfeit Currency Detection Course presented by the United States Secret Service.

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman J.P. Smith, and the United States Consular General: Cape Town, Erica J Barks-Ruggles, will hand over the certificates at a special ceremony.

Time: 14:00

Venue: Metropolitan Police Training Academy, c/o Station and Lower Main Roads, Observatory

All media are welcome to attend.

The Card Skimming and Counterfeit Currency Detection Course, which started on 6 February and ends on 10 February 2012, emanated from talks and a Letter of Agreement between the National Minister of Safety and Security and the United States Embassy Charge d’Affaires.

It is part of a programme designed to enhance capacity within the City’s Safety and Security Directorate, specifically the law enforcement cluster.
