City confirms power failure is as a result of Eskom line fault
MEDIA RELEASE
NO. 702 / 2011
28 SEPTEMBER 2011

The City of Cape Town received notification from Eskom at approximately 12h20 today indicating that the power supply to Cape Town had been disrupted.

According to Eskom there are two supply lines from Muldersvlei to Acacia – one line was undergoing maintenance work, the remaining line then tripped resulting in the loss of supply to various parts of Cape Town. Eskom then restored the line undergoing maintenance.

Eskom technicians have managed to restore supply to the majority of areas. However, some areas may still experience disruptions.

The City’s Disaster Risk Management teams are on alert. City Traffic Officers were placed at certain intersections to ease traffic congestion in the event of traffic signals being affected.
