The Executive Deputy Mayor, Alderman Ian Neilson, will officially open the new Science and Resource Centre of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) in Mowbray on Thursday.
Dr Devra Davis, award-winning American scientist and author of the book “The Secret History of the War on Cancer”, will give a talk on cancer and the environment. Dr Davis has been instrumental in creating a greater public awareness about the health risks associated with cell phones.

Venue: CANSA Science and Resource Centre, 37 Main Road, Mowbray
The CANSA Science and Resource Centre will provide appropriate psycho-social services to cancer patients living in Cape Town. It will also house the national toll-free Information Service, which responds to both local and international requests.
Science-driven projects, mainly in the environmental field, will also be housed at the centre and the facility will be used to host events with a scientific theme, such as cancer-related seminars and media events.
