An astronomical growth in the number of vehicles on Cape Town's roads and a significant increase in the demand for motor cycle tests has caused major backlogs in the issuing of learners and driving test appointments over the past year.
But the City of Cape Town's Traffic Services has now turned the corner and is introducing various measures to streamline licensing processes for an estimated one million road users in the Cape Metropole.
During the past quarter alone, a total of 14 997 driving licence tests and 29 737 learner's licence tests were conducted by the City's 15 driving licence test centres.
Heathcliff Thomas, the City's Traffic Chief and Acting Executive Director for Safety & Security Services, invites you to an update on the latest plans to improve licensing processes.
The briefing will also include a whistle stop tour of Gallows Hill, which is due to undergo an 'extreme makoever' into one of Cape Town's flagship traffic centres.
This will also be a golden opportunity to meet with traffic's media liaison officer, Principal Inspector Merle Lourens, who deals with day-to-day media queries.
