AMIP

Asset Management Improvement Programme

Is a tool to assist Local Government in management of   assets.

BRT

Bus Rapid Transit programme

Dedicated bus lanes on the N2 forms part this programme to reduce public transport by approximately 10 minutes during peak hours.

CDS

City Development Strategy

Draw on background studies that have been undertaken for the regional development strategy planning process and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

CHEC

Cape Higher Education Consortium

Represents the Cape Peninsular University of Technology, University of Cape Town, and University of the Western Cape and the University of Stellenbosch.

CTRU

Cape Town’s Routes Unlimited

Is the official destination marketing organisation for the city of Cape Town and the Western Cape Province.  It exists to promote Cape Town and the Western Cape as a preferred leisure, events and business destination – both nationwide and worldwide.

GABS

Golden Arrow Bus Services

Golden Arrow serves the entire metropolitan Cape Town area with services provided from six depots. As the sole provider of scheduled bus transport in the Western Cape metropole, the company plays a significant role in meeting basic needs as well as building the economy of the region.  

GGP

Gross Geographic Product

The gross geographic product (GGP) of a particular area amounts to the total income or payment received by the production factors – (land, labour, capital, and entrepreneurship) – for their participation in the production within that area.

Khayelitsha Community Trust

The main objective of KCT is to facilitate the development of the Khayelitsha Business District and to hold equity for the local community in the development.

MTIEF

Medium Term Income and Expenditure Framework

MTIEF is a framework used by the City and Provincial government which the City uses to deliver on services that are affordable to its citizens.

MFMA

Municipal Finance Management Act

Act that guides all financial issues on National, Local and Provincial levels.

MTEC

Medium Term Expenditure Committee

This committee was established by Province to engage the City of Cape Town, local and district municipalities in an attempt to align provincial and local government dev priorities to budget.

NSDP

National Spatial Development Perspective

Initiated March 2003. Goal is to attract capital investments in areas of growth potential. Focus is on providing basic services, access to social services and human resource development. Area of need and less potential will be core.

WC/WDM

Water Conservation & Water Demand Management.

Reduce water demand through the implementation of Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WC/WDM) initiatives in order to ensure a sustainable supply of water for the future and to ensure financial efficiency in the supply of water services. The implementation of WC/WDM can also result in significant long-term financial savings to the City as well as the public by reducing water losses, reducing treatment costs and postponing large capital infrastructure.
