If you would like to apply for a Council housing opportunity, you must be :

• Over the age of 18, married or co-habiting, and NOT the owner of a property
• Single with financial dependants (and able to prove their dependancy) 
• A South African citizen, or the possessor of a permanent residence permit
• Legally competent to sign a contract
• Not the beneficiary of a government housing subsidy
• Not married to someone who is the beneficiary of a government housing subsidy
• The recipient of a gross monthly income (with your spouse/partner) that exceeds R3,500 per month
  
  

How to apply

Complete a housing application form and an employer's report, and hand it to any housing estate office with certified copies of:

• Your and your spouse's barcoded identity documents
• Your children's birth certificates
• Your marriage or divorce certificates
  

If you have a cellphone, please provide us with your number so that we can communicate with you via sms messages. Alternatively, correspondence will be sent to your postal address.

Once your details have been captured on the housing database, you will be sent a letter with your registration number and application date.

It is your responsibility to keep your details up to date. You can do so by visiting any housing office and quoting your reference number.

If you do not keep your details up to date there is a good chance that your application will be overlooked and you will not be selected for a houisng project because your details do not meet the selection criteria.
