Getting there
Getting there

Where we are (see map)

The Bellville fan jol will be held at the Bellville Velodrome, which is on Willie Van Schoor Road (off Durban Road) in Bellville, 20 minutes from the airport, 20 km from Cape Town on the N1 and 0,5 km from the N1 freeway.

Tips on getting there:

  • Aim to arrive at least three hours before the match begins.
  • If you live close enough, aim to get there on foot. Most main walking routes are only 1km or so in distance, and there will be a dedicated pedestrian space where you will be spill out of the community-viewing site after the game

Public transport

Use the bus, train (Bellville Station is just 3 km from the velodrome) or use one of Cape Town’s minibus taxis to get there (alternatively, call Cape Town Tourism on +27 (0)21 487 6800, or e-mail info@capetown.travel for names and numbers of accredited taxi operators). Ten of the City's train stations have been upgraded to enable people to park their cars in a secure area and complete the rest of their journeys by train. These are: Fish Hoek, Ottery, Retreat, Claremont, Goodwood, Century City, Oosterzee, Brackenfell, Kuilsrivier and Strand.

Call the 24/7 Transport Information Centre free on any landline, including public payphones, on 0800 65 64 63 for ticket office, schedule and tariff information.

Private vehicles

Use the Park-and-Walk facilities shown below, where you’re able to park your vehicle at a secure site close to the stadium. Try to take as many passengers as you can, as parking is limited to 4 500 cars.

Bear in mind that the nearby Willie van Schoor Road and Durban Road will experience traffic congestion during rush hour, because of their connection to the N1. However, the other surrounding roads still have reasonable capacity.
If you’re planning to drive, be patient with pedestrians as the main intersections will be controlled to make it easier and safer for people walking to and from the site.
