Time running out to secure World Cup™ tickets

The first test event

Cape Town residents and visitors who want to watch 2010 FIFA World Cup™ matches in the spectacular new Cape Town Stadium have another opportunity to buy tickets, following the start of the fourth phase of ticket sales.

This is one of the last chances to buy tickets to the first World Cup™ in Africa.

Cape Town will host eight matches, but four of these - England vs Algeria, the Round of 16 match, Quarter-Final and Semi-Final - have already been sold out.

Tickets to the following Cape Town matches are still available:
June 11: Uruguay v France
June 14: Italy v Paraguay
June 21: Korea DPR v Portugal
June 24: Netherlands v Cameroon

More than 400,000 tickets for 53 matches went on sale on 9 February 2010, on a first-come, first-served basis.
This phase of ticket sales runs until 7 April 2010, after which ticketing centres will be open in each city, where fans can buy remaining tickets over the counter, and also collect their confirmed tickets.

More than two million tickets have already been sold in the first three phases of ticket sales, which is about two-thirds of the total tickets available.

"As we enter this fourth ticketing phase, it is important for football fans to note that time is very important when one applies for a ticket. The first come first serve principle means that if you do not apply on time, you run the risk of not getting a ticket. That is why it is crucial for fans to process their applications speedily," said Horst R. Schmidt, chairperson of the FIFA World Cup Ticketing Sub-Committee.

Applications for tickets can be made via FIFA.com or at FNB branches (for South African residents only).
Ticketing call centres will also be open during the fourth phase of ticket sales, to assist fans with enquiries and applications.

The South African hotline number is 083 1232010, and the international hotline number is 0041445832010.
