Cape Teaching Institute EE Course

The Cape Teaching Institute (CTI) Environmental Education (EE) Training Course for Educators of the Western Cape Education Department aims to:

1) Support the implementation of environmental learning in Cape Town's schools
2) Strengthen co-operation between environmental education (EE) service providers and the Western Cape Education Department (WCED).

The training course involves 50 Intermediate Phase educators, school heads of department and curriculum advisors from the WCED in a 10-day EE course, after which the educators will develop and implement practical curriculum-based lessons focusing on an environmental topic of their choice.

A team of service providers are involved in presenting the course. They will provide resource materials and educator support, and provide feedback on the educators’ lesson portfolios.

The programme is funded by the City of Cape Town and is evaluated by an independent evaluator.
