City of Cape Town Environmental Agenda 2009-2014, May 2009 [PDF 175 KB]
In 2008, the Environmental Resource Management Department undertook a 5-year review of the City’s Integrated Metropolitan Environmental Policy (IMEP). The result of this review is the revised IMEP Environmental Agenda, which assigns key measureable environmental targets and goals across City of Cape Town line functions for the next five years.

This policy forms the foundation for an environmental management strategy for the City of Cape Town. The policy was officially adopted by the City of Cape Town on 31 October 2001.

This strategic plan takes the City's Biodiversity Strategy into action. The plan contains an overview of the functions of the biodiversity management branch and a strategic planning framework with six strategic objectives and their various outcomes. The plan is to be evaluated on an annual basis and will be revised by 2014.

The City is involved in 50 programme areas, made up of more than 115 projects, that are co-ordinated through an Energy and Climate Action Plan that will see a lower carbon, more modern, liveable and equitable city which builds on its competitive advantages.
Environmental Awareness, Education and Training Strategy
A framework for the planning and implementation of environmental awareness, education and training in the City of Cape Town. An updated version of the City’s first 'Environmental Education and Training Strategy' published in 2003. Given the growth in the scope of the City of Cape Town’s environmental awareness, education and training activities, the new strategy consists of two parts:
