Partner Programmes

The Environmental Resource Management Department contributes to the development, coordination and implementation of key City of Cape Town partner programmes and projects.

Selected partner programmes that the department is involved with include:

1) The Green Goal 2010 Programme, which aims to ensure that the planning and implementation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is based on an environmentally sustainable footing.

2) The Cape Town Green Map Project, initiated as a project in the Host City Cape Town’s Green Goal 2010 Action Plan. The City has made an initial investment into this legacy project and a private sector partner will continue the concept into the future, post-2010.

3) The City of Cape Town - Table Mountain National Park partnership, which incorporates facilitating cooperation between the City and TMNP in respect of the urban interface, strategic planning and development coordination.

4) The City of Cape Town – ICLEI: Local Governments for Sustainability partnership, which incorporates coordinating, planning and developing local government initiatives and identifying partnership opportunities.

5) The Local Action for Biodiversity (LAB) Project, which aims to involve cities from across the globe to explore the best ways for local governments to engage in effective biodiversity protection, management and utilisation.
