Sustainable Coastal Management Plans

Sustainable Coastal Management Plans aim to provide co-ordinated management for a number of sensitive coastal areas in Cape Town. In order to effectively and efficiently manage the coastal zone in a sustainable manner a number of sustainable coastal management plans (SCMPs) were developed. These SCMPs are to be developed and implemented at each of the 43 Coastal Zone Management Units as defined in the Coastal Zone Management Strategy.

Achievements
:: The City of Cape Town has already developed and implemented management plans for Melkbosstrand, Granger Bay to Bantry Bay, Muizenberg to Wolfgat and Kogel Bay.
:: Facilitated co-ordination and communication between different line functions within the City.
:: Facilitated accountability and efficient management of the beaches.
