2003 City of Cape Town State of Energy reports
This State of Energy Reports provides the energy profile of the City of Cape Town, including energy policy, demand, and supply options, and considers issues such as energy security, energy access, and climate change.
2006 City of Cape Town Energy & Climate Change Strategy
The City’s Energy & Climate Change Strategy is based on the State of Energy Report, and co-ordinates a number of fragmented energy and climate change activities and issues, as well as an array of short and long-term implementation measures. The strategy aims to improve quality of life by improving energy efficiency and energy supply options, guiding transport issues and contributing to sustainable growth and development through cost-effective energy provision.
2009 City of Cape Town Draft Green Building Guidelines
The aim of the Draft Green Building Guidelines for the City of Cape Town is to actively promote resource efficient construction of new or renovated buildings to minimise the negative environmental impacts of the built environment, while making the most of positive social and economic impacts. Please note that this is still in draft form, and that further guidelines and development criteria are being developed.
City of Cape Town Environmental Agenda 2009-2014
This document sets out commitments made by the City to achieve five-year environmental targets in biodiversity, alien invasive species, air quality, carbon footprint, energy efficiency, climate change adaptation, river health, water, waste minimisation, housing, coastal protection, urban edge, environmental compliance, environmental education and communication, outdoor advertising and cultural heritage. Direct action to achieve each environmental target is lead by a responsible department with the commitment of proactive support and integration by all other relevant line functions in the City.
