Testing centres (DLTCs)
The City's 18 driving licence testing centres (DLTCs) are located at central points throughout Cape Town. Every month these process an average of 5 000 learners’ driving and 5 300 driving licence tests.
 
They also issue and renew professional driving permits (PRDPs) and driving card licences for over one million road users. Roadworthy certificates can be obtained at any of the centres marked with an asterisk (*) in the list below, as well as private testing stations appointed by the Provincial Government of the Western Cape (such as the AA).
 
Operating hours:
For card renewals and all other cash transactions, offices will be open Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 to 15:30 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00.

All other transactions such as card collections and enquiries are open until 15:30 on weekdays and until 12:00(noon) on Saturdays. This arrangement will be in place until the end of June 2013, unless otherwise stipulated.
 
The following testing centres are open on Saturdays:

  • Fish Hoek
  • Gallows Hill
  • Hillstar
  • Joe Gqabi
  • Kuils River
  • Linguletu West
  • Milnerton (only on alternate Saturdays, please call ahead to find out times and availability)
  • Parow

Complaints about service delivery, conversion of foreign licences, appeals against failing a driving test or difficulties with booking appointments may be lodged with the DLTCs' management representatives.
