Most health facilities make provision for diagnosing pregnancy. Once pregnancy has been confirmed, follow up occurs at health facilities called MOUs or midwife obstetric units. A full initial assessment occurs at the first or booking visit whereafter the pregnancy is monitored through regular follow up visits (antenatal care). Birth also occurs at these facilities as well as after birth care (postnatal care) of the mother and baby. At any stage referral to a hospital can occur should this be necessary.
To find those health facilities which provide antenatal care, birth care and/ or postnatal care services, or alternatively contact your nearest clinic and enquire about available services.
