Immunisation Schedule

Schedule for immunisation/vaccination is as follows: -

Age

Polio, Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenzae type B (First dose)

10 weeks

Polio, Diphtheria, Whooping cough, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenzae type B (Second dose)

14 weeks

Polio, Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenzae type B (Third dose)

9 months

Measles (First dose)

18 months

Measles (second dose), Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus

5 years

Polio, Diphtheria and Tetanus

Remember immunisation protects against serious infections. Previously, measles was very common in Cape Town, now it rarely occurs because of effective immunisation. If we keep up good immunisation levels, we may one day be able to eradicate many of these diseases as has happened to smallpox.
