All local authority clinics provide the following services for babies and young children: -
- Breastfeeding advice.
- Developmental assessment – checking that your child is developing normally in terms of walking, talking, handling of objects and so on.
- Growth monitoring – your child will be weighed and compared to charts which give the normal range of weight for that particular age. If under or over weight, appropriate advice and treatment will be given.
- Immunisation – these are the regular childhood injections/ vaccinations which protect us against various infections (look under immunisation schedule for more information).
- Curative care – treatment of illnesses in children
