City scoops green prize
The City’s Electricity Department has won a national prize for managing the most environmentally friendly vehicle fleet in South Africa. The prize was presented at the inaugural Green Supply Chain Awards in Johannesburg, which is hosted by the Consumer Goods Council of SA (CGCSA) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport.(More)

  President Zuma City’s Second Chance for Kite Festival: 10-11 October 2009
It’s that time of year again when the south-easter returns to blow away the last of winter, creating perfect conditions for the annual International Kite Festival. This two day family event is held on the banks of the Greater Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve to raise funds for the Cape Mental Health society. (More)

The City of Cape Town has won two national awards at the annual Golden Key Awards ceremony, which is administered and hosted by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and the Open Democracy Advice Centre (ODAC). (More)
Down town Cape town New unit in dogged pursuit of illegal drugs
Cape Town Metro Police will soon be able to raid 'drug outlets' and search vehicles and occupants at roadblocks and vehicle control points more efficiently, thanks to their new canine colleagues. Eleven dogs and handlers started their training in narcotics detection at Dogs and All, outside Malmesbury in late August.

properties form air Etihad launches daily Cape Town flight
Cape Town Executive Mayor Alderman Dan Plato was on hand last week to welcome the inaugural Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi to Cape Town. Etihad, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will fly to Cape Town on a daily basis throughout the year, filling a major gap during the peak season and stimulating traffic from the Middle East during the winter low season.  (More)
