Cape Town 'not out-pricing itself'
Cape Town Tourism has denied that accommodation and other rates are being pushed up ahead of the 2010 FIFA World CupTM, saying instead that prices in Cape Town are well balanced and equivalent to normal peak rates. This follows recent British media reports which suggested that South Africa is out-pricing itself ahead of the tournament. (More)

Work on the first phase of the Integrated Rapid Transport (IRT) system is underway. One route will connect the airport to the city centre, the stadium and Sea Point, and the other will go up the West Coast to Table View and Atlantis. (More)

The City of Cape Town has drafted a new parking by-law to control public parking and invites the public to comment on it before 30 September 2009. The new by-law prescribes rules for public parking within the City’s area of jurisdiction, facilitates the enforcement of parking regulations and addresses impermissible conduct relating to public parking. Down town Cape town Six thousand apply to volunteer for 2010 in Cape Town
A total of 5 998 people have applied to be FIFA volunteers in Cape Town during the Final Draw in December 2009 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in June next year. During the six week period that the application period was open, 67 999 people from 170 countries applied to volunteer across South Africa during the World Cup. Only about 15 000 volunteers will be required.
