Western leopard toads need our help
The Western Leopard Toad (WLT) is an endangered species in Cape Town, mostly because of urban development and loss of habitat, as well as risky migration routes across busy roads. Unless we act now to prevent ¬– and reverse – the decline of this species, we could lose it altogether. A healthy WLT population is an indication of a healthy state of urban biodiversity, and many of the actions we take to conserve this species will help other wildlife survive in our urban environment.   President Zuma City unveils 2010 Safety and Security Plan
The City of Cape Town will employ 440 extra safety and security staff as part of its extensive safety and security plan for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The extra staff will augment the municipality’s current capabilities during the month-long tournament. (More)

The City of Cape Town’s Waste Exchange programme, IWEX, is proving to be an invaluable resource to local entrepreneurs and industries. Integrated Waste Exchange (IWEX) is a free online system that enables waste generators and users to exchange waste materials. (More)
Down town Cape town Grant In Aid funding applications invited
Two of the City of Cape Town’s subcouncils are inviting non-governmental organisations to apply for grants that will be used for projects that support the City’s strategies. Subcouncils 13 and 9 have published advertisements in local newspapers detailing the procedure to be followed by non-profit organisations within their respective wards in submitting applications for Grant In Aid (GIA) funding.

The City of Cape Town’s delegation to China, headed by Executive Mayor Alderman Dan Plato, is hard at work cementing bilateral, mutually beneficial ties between the two countries. The delegation, which comprises City politicians and officials, is in China to attend the World Economic Forum’s ‘Meeting of New Champions’ session.  (More)
