Easier ways to buy pre-paid electricity
Cape Town residents can now buy pre-paid electricity from any vendor located within the City's boundaries. The new arrangement, which came into effect at the beginning of June 2009, has been made possible by the integration of the four separate systems inherited from previous administrations into a single unified IT platform. Previously, City of Cape Town prepaid electricity customers were only able to buy electricity from a limited number of vendors located in the vicinity of their homes and businesses.(More)

  Mayor - Alderman Dan Plato, Premier of the Western Cape - Helen Zille New gap housing development for Mitchells Plain
The City of Cape Town has formed a public/private partnership with the Watergate Housing Development and New Age Property (Development) to develop an R800 million housing project in Mitchells Plain. The development, which is on 22 hectares of land, will provide affordable, bondable housing for 4 500 families in the R5 000 –– R10 000 income bracket.(More)
CBD Residents and businesses rate City service delivery

Graffiti on wall Draft graffiti by-law will clean up Cape Town
The City of Cape Town has drafted a new by-law to stop the spread of graffiti within its area of jurisdiction. Once approved, the new by-law will enable the City to prohibit the spread of graffiti via the establishment of a specialised Graffiti Control Unit. It will also provide for the removal of graffiti and the restoration of surfaces affected by it. (More)
Cape Town City has contingency plans to ensure continued service delivery during strike
The City of Cape Town has been informed that the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and the Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (IMATU) intend to proceed with strike action from Monday, 27 July 2009.
