Khayelitsha urban upgrade programme launched
A tract of land which has long been known as one of Cape Town’s worst crime spots – where few people dare to tread – has now been transformed into a community space for the residents of Khayelitsha. (More) Toilet prototype being tested in Cape Town Imagine a toilet that uses almost no water, doesn’t need to be connected to a sewerage system or mains water supply, and is easy to install. This revolutionary type of toilet may become a reality in South Africa and improve sanitation problems in informal settlements, thanks to research conducted and funded by the Dutch government and its partners. Colourful bus shelters bring joy to Manenberg commuters
Learners from Phoenix High School, Manenberg, have transformed seven bus shelters along Lansdowne Road and Manenberg Avenue, from drab, grey concrete slabs into brightly coloured murals, with the help of Manenberg artist Steven van Niekerk and the Bauwagen Goes South Project. (More) |
