Maynardville Park
Maynardville Park, home of the famous open-air theatre, is best known for the annual Shakespeare in the Park productions. This magnificent green gem features a vibrant bird population, a large water feature, it is pet friendly and there is a children’s playground. There are a vast number of trees that dot the landscape, including lemon-scented gum trees and the diagonally trunked Mediterranean cork oak, a favourite among tree climbers.

The park hosts a number of community activities throughout the year including carnivals, markets, fairs, motor shows and wedding receptions. It is also a favourite year-round picnic destination - Maynardville Park is a birdwatching paradise. Bird aficionados can enjoy sightings of cattle egrets, moorhens, hadedas, sacred ibis, Egyptian geese, red-knobbed coots and reed cormorants.

Maynardville is now managed by Maynardville Park Action Committee, a partnership between the City of Cape Town and the Wynberg community.

Find out more about the history of Maynardville Park and other district parks: A History of Cape Town's District Parks Booklet
GP0|#489049ab-e441-4332-8474-9a27393a1b3a;L0|#0489049ab-e441-4332-8474-9a27393a1b3a|Walking;GTSet|#153637b8-411d-4bf7-8214-7237f5d775f0;GP0|#1c6a3718-7ebe-41f6-8815-ef729ef7dbbc;L0|#01c6a3718-7ebe-41f6-8815-ef729ef7dbbc|Leisure and relaxation;GP0|#2392bffa-ec48-4d14-a19a-8a266247fac3;L0|#02392bffa-ec48-4d14-a19a-8a266247fac3|Cycling and biking;GP0|#add4c56f-747e-433a-986a-33c22addc84a;L0|#0add4c56f-747e-433a-986a-33c22addc84a|Family entertainment;GP0|#9c8c0075-e925-4024-a33f-8df78b8a4f92;L0|#09c8c0075-e925-4024-a33f-8df78b8a4f92|Dog walking
Please see the Recreation and Parks Tariffs Booklet in the document download section below for more information about bookings and tariffs.

General enquiries

Telephone:
021 444 8849

Fax:
086 576 1243

10 hectares
GP0|#36fb11f6-3340-4633-8a08-816df4d3bfb3;L0|#036fb11f6-3340-4633-8a08-816df4d3bfb3|Water features;GTSet|#4be4596d-cdfe-41f7-a569-9d9c4e16c716;GP0|#7ef8afb9-d736-4755-b3d1-06edd79fffdf;L0|#07ef8afb9-d736-4755-b3d1-06edd79fffdf|Footpath and trails;GP0|#a869cc14-4edf-4bdb-9cca-8684b722178f;L0|#0a869cc14-4edf-4bdb-9cca-8684b722178f|Garden;GP0|#6bcb5eec-2ab6-47ab-b07a-ea31c1701a27;L0|#06bcb5eec-2ab6-47ab-b07a-ea31c1701a27|Grassed areas;GP0|#f7d816d2-bb0d-42ad-829b-80234a7a04ad;L0|#0f7d816d2-bb0d-42ad-829b-80234a7a04ad|Vendors and kiosks;GP0|#e635e20f-9cdf-470d-953c-66222c8f380e;L0|#0e635e20f-9cdf-470d-953c-66222c8f380e|Restaurant;GP0|#6fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8;L0|#06fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8|Parking;GP0|#9c77c8ee-e3a5-4614-938b-ab24d30ca4eb;L0|#09c77c8ee-e3a5-4614-938b-ab24d30ca4eb|Public toilets;GP0|#5e10a420-e5a5-4100-b9b9-d0b7105ce184;L0|#05e10a420-e5a5-4100-b9b9-d0b7105ce184|Play area and equipment;GP0|#0d6ec212-bddb-480a-9ab5-b6392f736bc8;L0|#00d6ec212-bddb-480a-9ab5-b6392f736bc8|Animals allowed;GP0|#605eae2c-2e48-4791-aa2f-b61e8c94e9ab;L0|#0605eae2c-2e48-4791-aa2f-b61e8c94e9ab|Picnic areas

Cnr Church and Wolfe Street, Wynberg
September to March
07:00 – 19:00

April to August
07:30 – 18:00
